Prettiest vista in Nova Scotia
Simon's Point, Louisbourg, Canada
I was turned onto Simon's Point by chatting with one of the actor's in Louisbourg (another very worthwhile sight). I had already been around the famous (and touristy) National Park in the north part of Cape Bretan - which I found beautiful, but almost artifically so - or maybe it was just too easy & accomodating for what i was looking for - every lookout, scenic vista, walking trail, meticulously maintained and documented - there was none of the ruggedness or solidarity I was seeking that I found in Simon's Point. It's about 10 or 15 min driving outside of town - but that may have been because there was a detour at the time - It's probably possible to walk but you might need to ask around. The point itself is another 10 minute walk down a trail leading off a dirt road - this is an incredible experience - every 100 steps the environ changes dramatically - I should add that I went in autumn's peak, and although chilly, I would recommend that time to go - not just for the point, but all of NS. The point itself is incredible - I will spare any attempt to put it into words - simply a must-do experience.
